Journaling
July 6, 2008
So last week I had a NERVOUS BREAKDOWN in my lesson. Not that that hasn’t happened before.
I’m just getting more and more nervous as fall approaches. Because of applications and audition. I’m now SO ANXIOUS that it’s difficult for me to function.
We’re starting to fix that by working on my practicing technique. My teacher gave me the assignment to keep a practice journal. Basically, I stop every ten minutes or so to write about exactly what I just did to try to achieve a specific goal. It is the most tedious thing I have ever done in my life, but I can already feel that it’s helping. It forces me to think really hard about what I’m doing and it helps me listen and play in tune better. Not to mention it really forces me to get my practice done, because if I have nothing written down, my teacher will know I didn’t practice XD
